Purple exclamation mark.svg Planning the future of Botwiki! - Help us bring Botwiki up to date, contribute to our strategy discussion, add bot scripts, and contribute manuals, guides, and tutorials! Almost anything related to bots, particularly those used to edit mediawiki, is welcome.

Red exclamation mark.svg UNABLE TO EDIT? - We've experienced attacks by spambots lately and now require you to confirm your e-mail before you can edit (go to your preferences, enter an e-mail address, and request a confirmation e-mail, then go to your e-mail and click on the confirmation link). We also require new accounts to make a few edits and wait a few minutes before before you can create a page; however, if this is a problem contact us in #botwiki and we can manually confirm your account. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Botwiki is a project for the development, documentation, and testing of bots, particularly bots that perform work related to wikis, especially those running on the [[mediawiki:|mediawiki:]] platform. Originally Botwiki was limited to the Python Wikipedia Bot, commonly known as Pywikipediabot, PyBot, or PWB. It now covers all programming languages and bot frameworks.

In 2011, after several years of stagnation, Botwiki began a major overhaul of its content.

History

Botwiki was started by Snowolf and Filnik on 18 March 2007 and was originally known as Pywikipedia or Fkregex (former url http://fkregex.sno.cc).

Copyright

Only free images, media and software are allowed. Fair use is explicitly forbidden; even though the servers are located in the United States, Botwiki is legally owned by an Italian citizen and as such the whole project should follow both Italian and US laws.
